Constance Singam

Constance Singam is an author and civil society activist holding a Master’s degree in Literature, the former president of the Association of Women for Action and Research (AWARE Singapore) and has also co-founded civil society groups, been a columnist in several national publications, and contributed to and co-edited several books. Her works include A History of the TWC: Building Social Space in Singapore, Re-Presenting Singapore Women which she co-edited, and her memoir Where I was: A Memoir from the Margins.

In 2013 a small group of civil society stalwarts set out to acknowledge the contributions of these unsung heroes. The Singapore Advocacy Awards was launched, a 3-year project that saw a total of 18 individuals and organisations being honoured.
