We've partnered with Group Reading Committee this year for all who enjoy discussing and dissecting ideas, gleaning different perspectives and forging connections with fellow readers! Group Reading Committee will be hosting a discussion of Singapore, Incomplete by Cherian George.

3PM - 4PM: In Conversation – Kirsten Han and Teo You Yenn

Yep, we can't believe it either! Kirsten Han and Teo You Yenn will be interviewing each other in a candid conversation about their work, the craft and labour involved in writing, and perhaps some questions involving cats... Please note that this session will be recorded for the New Naratif podcast, and that if you miss this, that discomfort in your chest is known as regret.

5PM - 6PM: In Conversation – Alfian Sa’at and Diana Rahim

Alfian Sa'at and Diana Rahim will be discussing how artistic practice and creation is understood in Singapore, and what alternative ways the environment and construction of the Creative can look like. And yes, we can read your mind—they will talk about the recent phenomenal success of Merdeka.

12PM - 130PM: [Group Reading Committee Bookclub] Living with Myths in Singapore AND The Functions and Reproduction of Migrant Labour

Group Reading Committee will be back on Sunday with a second book club reading:

  • “Myths and Facts: Migrant Workers in Singapore” by Charan Bal from Living with Myths in Singapore, edited by Thum Ping Tjin and Loh Kah Seng
  • The Functions and Reproduction of Migrant Labour: Comparative Material from Southern Africa and the United States by Michael Burawoy.

Cassandra will be here on Sunday afternoon to answer all the burning questions you've wanted to ask about life with a guide dog by your side: What's it like owning a guide dog? How is the relationship between a guide dog team different from that of a pet owner and their dog? What do guide dogs do when they're off duty? Animal lovers, Esme fans and Elke fans, this one's for you.
