Hooked on Something New

Dear Reader,
Somewhere in the middle of January, I found myself googling “fun and addictive hobbies” because I was starting to feel a little drained by the repetitive motions of my days and “Knitting/Crocheting” popped up in the results. A quick stop at Memo’s Art House (a block away from our office) after work, and I was walking home with two skeins of yarn, one hook, a handful of colourful stitch markers and a rush of excitement akin to the feeling I get when I discover matcha lattes on the menu at a coffee place.
It’s been a little over a month now, and I’ve been having so much fun on my crocheting journey. I’ve since made many little animal friends and book sleeves, including the happy frogs on lily pads and Mai (the elephant from "Another Country" in Diana Rahim's new short story collection We Saw Mountains), sitting amongst the origami animals and written dreams on the “Build Your Dream Oasis” board at Diana's book launch.

I have many more projects in mind, and I’m so glad to have started 2026 with a new hobby (perhaps it won’t be hard to guess what I’ll be choosing as my top pick in our team’s end-of-year newsletter).I hope your year has been off to a good start. If you’re feeling a little drained or in need of some fresh excitement in your days, maybe this is a good time to pick up something new too—perhaps a new hobby or activity, a TV series (I started watching The Big Bang Theory and Supernatural while crocheting), or even a new book!
Please recommend me crochet project ideas,Sharm
