In this volume, Dr. Ronald D. Klein shares with us the invaluable insights to the background and works of selected poets, writers and playwrights within their respective social context and climate. Starting with Goh Sin Tub (b. 1927) who lived through the Japanese Occupation to the post-Independence generation of writers such as Haresh Sharma (b. 1965) and Alvin Pang (b. 1972), the interviews in this volume span Singapore history from the British colonial period to the present day.
The 16 writers featured in this volume are (in alphabetical order): Gopal Baratham, Colin Cheong, Goh Sin Tub, Philip Jeyaretnam, Koh Buck Song, Stella Kon, Kuo Pao Kun, Alvin Pang, Catherine Lim, Suchen Christine Lim, Kirpal Singh, Haresh Sharma, Rex Shelley, Edwin Thumboo, Eleanor Wong and Robert Yeo.
