SG Poems 2017-2018 brings together established and emerging poets from the island's various linguistic traditions in a space where everyone can demand respect. This volume allows them also to give voice to what is human and true amid the perplexities of contemporary life. This volume presents new work on the themes "Regardless of Race" and "In Spirit," which inspired Poetry Festival (Singapore) in 2017 and 2018 respectively. The volume is at once a reference book, with representative work from some of Singapore's most widely read poets, and a sampler that introduces new and published poets in Chinese, Malay or Tamil in English translation. May this selection be another record of the growth of Singapore poetry and provide a spur to further reading.
